Dr. Nadeen Spence

Chairwoman

Dr. Spence is the Student Services and Development Manager at Mary Seacole Hall at The University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona Campus. She also serves as Chairwoman of the Board of the Maxfield Park Children’s Home and is a member of the Board of the Jamaica 4H Club. She is also a member of Jamaica’s UNESCO Commission.  She is trained in Project Management, Corporate Governance and Performance Management and credits her understanding of organizational culture and systems to her training in Political Science and Comparative Politics and Political Theory. She is a contributing member on a number of national committees including the Committee which developed the National Strategic Action Plan against Gender Based Violence, the National Gender Advisory Council and the Partnership for Jamaica across two political administrations one chaired by then Prime Minister, Portia Simpson Miller and the current Partnership for Prosperity chaired by Prime Minister Andrew Holness.

Dr. Spence graduated from The UWI Mona with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, a Master’s Degree in Comparative Politics and Political Theory and a PhD in Gender and Development Studies with High Commendation. She was recently (September 2022) named as a Visiting Scholar to the University of Pennsylvania.
